ABOUT ATLAS
I’m Alyssa Ploger (she/they), a Chicago-based hairstylist with over a decade of experience dedicated to compassionate, personalized hair care. As the owner of Atlas Salon, I specialize in blonding, creative color, and color corrections, and take pride in crafting haircuts that enhance each client’s natural texture and personal style.
In 2019, I established Atlas Salon to provide a more intentional, client-focused experience. Designed for one-on-one appointments in a private, tranquil setting, the studio offers a serene alternative to traditional salons—emphasizing authenticity, comfort, and connection.​
Beyond the salon, I collaborate with my husband and roommates on various creative projects. Together, we handle filming, directing, set design, and hair styling for promotional shoots and music videos associated with Madame Reaper Productions, an art pop project led by my roommate, Kira Leadholm. This Chicago-based act blends synth pop, glam rock, and electronic indie. Our collaborative efforts aim to bring Kira’s artistic vision to life, contributing to the project’s unique aesthetic and storytelling.
My creative inspiration comes from diverse sources, including science fiction, anime, cartoons, punk, and internet culture. These influences shape my artistic vision, both in hairstyling and multimedia endeavors.

Atlas Salon proudly welcomes all individuals, offering gender-neutral services in an LGBTQIA+ inclusive environment. For basic services, same-day consultations are typically available, while extensive color work or extensions are best preceded by an advance consultation to ensure optimal results.
In addition to managing Atlas, I travel to Heirloom Studio in Milwaukee every five weeks, providing services in its quaint and supportive setting.
Committed to continuous learning, I regularly engage in advanced classes to refine my skills and stay current with trends and techniques. At home on Chicago’s North Side, I enjoy life with my husband, roommates, and our two cats, Baci and Earl.
